A very warm welcome to the October/November update from Teesside University Students' Union (TUSU). We get in touch every month through the academic year with our latest news and events unless you ask us to stop by unsubscribing.
In this edition, we are looking ahead to a busy and exciting period of activities, campaigns, and day/ evening events, including YOUR chance to hear from us AND have your say at the TUSU Members Meeting. We are so keen to see you there; you can get a code for FREE Domino's Pizza if you attend the whole meeting*. There is also our first-ever Cultural Festival, giving students from all backgrounds a chance to learn, share and have fun together.
We will continue to provide free breakfast for current enrolled TU students throughout October and get out around campus each week, giving you the chance to provide us with feedback and support. Then, if it's Halloween fun you're after, we've got a string of spooktacular socials, including the legendary Nightmare on Southfield Road; find out more in the events article below.
We also hope you will check out the brand new Unitemps service, which, working with the University, can help you find part-time work and become more employable. Check out when they will be in the TUSU Building to tell you more and help you here.
And please take the chance to give us feedback about some proposed changes to our Board of Trustees which we believe will make it even more efficient and effective for students in the future.
Have a great month, and, as always, make sure TUSU is right at the heart of your student life! We are here for you however things are going, find our building opposite The Curve and next to Teesside Uni Library!
Harsha, Blessing, and Ebubechi – TUSU Student Officers 2024/25
The TUSU Members Meeting (formerly known as the AGM) takes place once a year and is open to ALL current, enrolled Teesside University students. It takes place on Tuesday, 19th November from 5 pm and, although it is a very important meeting, it usually takes no longer than 90 minutes. Best of all...we are so keen for you to attend that we are offering 1 x FREE Domino's pizza to as many of you who attend as we possibly can.
It is a chance to:
Keep monitoring tees-su.org.uk/agm for key papers you should read before the meeting and more information.
* PLEASE NOTE: The meeting is usually well attended, and supplies of codes for free pizza are limited. We cannot guarantee that everyone who attends the meeting will receive one.
* PLEASE NOTE: You MUST bring your Teesside University Student ID card (TUSC) to the meeting to be admitted.
TUSU offers a great range of day and evening events throughout the academic year, which are open to ALL Teesside Uni students. We also do our best to deliver them free or at very low cost whenever possible! Check out everything that is coming up and book tickets through our events minisite.
Alongside weekly favorites like our Monday Night Quiz and Wednesday Night Karaoke we've got plenty of special highlights this coming month in our venues on Southfield Road opposite The Curve and next to Teesside University Library alongside other locations around the UK!
REMEMBER: We serve plenty of non-alcoholic options at evening events.
The TUSU Breakfast Club runs from 8.30 am to 10 am every Tue/ Wed/ Thu through October in The Terrace (opposite The Curve and beside TU Library). It's a chance for current, enrolled Teesside University students who can show a valid Teesside Uni Student ID card to get a FREE bowl of cereal or piece of fruit.
It's all part of our wider work to help you keep the cost of living down and help with your well-being while you study.
PLEASE NOTE: The club is only open to TU students; please DO NOT bring along non-student family and friends, as we would hate to have to refuse them.
We are a Students' Union who pride ourselves on running "real world" campaigns that focus on the issues of most importance to Teesside University students. Here's what is continuing or launching in the coming month:

Why are we proposing these changes?
What do we want you to do?
TUSU is led by students for students, so between Friday, 18th October and Friday, 1st November, we want YOU to have your say about these important proposed changes. Simply visit tees-su.org.uk/botfeedback and give us your views. After the form closes, we will take them into account before putting a final proposal on the above to the TUSU Members Meeting on Tue, 19th November, for final feedback from students who attend it. Unitemps is Teesside University's recruitment agency, matching candidates with exciting businesses. Launched in September 2024, the Unitemps Teesside University branch is located in the Student Life Building, Teesside University.
What can Unitemps offer students?
We're looking for students of all ages and backgrounds to participate in pictures using our various services and spaces which may then end up being used in the next year in our digital and printed marketing materials and advertising! It's a chance to be a face of your Students' Union in 2024/2025, AND everyone who participates gets a £5 voucher, which can be used in The Terrace (bar/ restaurant in the Students' Union Building) or the SU Shop.
Your SU works closely with the University and a range of external agencies such as Cleveland Police, Cleveland Fire and the NHS to try to keep all students safe and well. It remains important to keep taking sensible precautions to minimise the risk to both yourself and other students.
